Project idea

The construction of the monastery “Uspensky” at the end of the 19th century had to resist the spiritual disintegration observed in society, then still the Yenisei province, the romance and atmosphere of which is impossible not to be inspired.
In this project we would like to use again the symbols of the Yenisei province as bright images for stylization of design objects in the project of improvement of the embankment of the monastery “Uspensky”. Bring the spirit of the forgotten past of Krasnoyarsk in a new, stylistic manner is the main idea of the project “New province”
The goal is to create a public space by returning the historical context and preserving the main cultural points of attraction of this territory.
Also during the analysis of the quay of the Uspensky Monastery, a number of problems were identified:
- the parking area near the walls of the Uspensky Monastery;
- the contamination of the forest area of the quay;
- the lack of specific points in places with an apparent aesthetic potential;
- the impossibility of movement of people with disabilities to the quay territory;
- the fence restricting access to the “Bishop's House”;
- the lack of small architectural forms, expositions, art objects, benches on the quay, the impossibility of carrying out a number of events in the open air.
- the lack of connection with the surrounding territory of the Udachny district.

Project description

Images for stylization. When creating objects of improvement, the basis is taken iconic images of ancient provincial cities:
1 a small log wooden house with a pitched roof, as the most stable image of the time
2 noisy market, which is the center of commercial relations and the point of attraction.
3 log pier, near which is the permanent anchorage of small boats
4 The fisherman's house is constantly full of networks. Romantic and quiet at night and noisy during the day
Objects made in the style of these images, together with the monastery “Uspensky” create an accurate image of a miniature province of the 19th century.
The development of the place. When planning the territory, functional zones are allocated, each with its own unique theme and approach to solving the tasks:
Zone of forest – it is a natural, untouched resource in which man rests and contemplates nature.
Zone of history – includes educational and spiritual function.
Zone of city – it is a point of attraction for commercial and cultural events.
The central line of the road is like a border between “history” and “city”.
For the improvement project should be divided into three stages in order to achieve economic efficiency:
1. Installation of a stage, exhibition stands, stairs and ramps for people with limited mobility, a pier for small boats and a lighting system. Cleaning and improvement of the forest zone and the quay of the Uspensky Monastery
2.Organization of a separate parking zone away from historic buildings. Entry restriction with the help of an organized checkpoint with a barrier at the beginning of the arrival of the monastery. Laying paving stones of different colors to maintain the stylistic image. Improvement of the public space in the form of a square and a system of footpaths, arbors, benches supporting the overall style and architecture of the “Bishop's House”. Planting landscape gardening crops from native plant species, landscaping.
3. Reconstruction of the existing historic building “Bishop's House” ;
The construction of the observation deck with built-in premises for holding master classes and various events;
The creation of the elevator system of the observation deck for people with limited mobility.;

Technical information

For the project embankment of the monastery “Uspensky” a master plan was developed on a scale of 1:500 and a detailed specification of the equipment used was compiled. The project has functional areas:
