We took the concept of geode stone, transferring it to architecture. It consists in a compact perimeter ring with an empty space in the center with irregular shaped crystals. The exterior adapts to its surrounding environment, while the interior breaks with its sobriety and dazzles with its brightness.
We chose stone as a material of natural origin that adapts to its environment and as a construction material used by both cultures.
We adopt glass and steel as the predominant material in the Czech Republic.
The project of the embassy is resolved in a regular volume compact as a stone, crossed in two directions by roads that simulate the breakage of it and which through different operations such as subtraction or extrusion, is changed to morphology. In turn, this volume is divided into four independent parts, each corresponding to a different function: ambassador's residence; official part of the embassy; staff residence; and consulate and visas.
The last two have a single level while the first two are of two levels, responding to the inclined shape of the roof.
The building is resolved with concrete walls and a skin that surrounds the building that gives it the character of stone. This skin materializes in corten steel, we choose this material for its color and its ductility that allows it to take different forms.
