Czech Republic is characterized by the large number of bridges that cross the Vltava River and the importance they have in the collective memory of its population. Our project is born from the idea of the bridge: a human construction, designed to create bonds and connect communities. In this way our project materializes as a bridge, seeking to connect the Czech Republic and Ethiopia, as well as its people.
Our project consists of a set of volumes, in which the main volume of the Embassy, is the largest, in a prismatic and materialized Hormigon. This building rests on the elevated terrain, generating a large dry square below and flying over it. In addition to this great prism of concrete, another prismatic volume crosses it at its southern end, generating an interesting volume game. All the spaces of importance of the complex overflow to the great central square of the land, being the center of the life of the embassy.
The whole is materialized mainly of concrete, a noble and enduring material, as well as the history of the Czech Republic. This opaque material is complemented with its antithesis, the Glass, generating games of lights and shadows, as well as inputs of diffused natural light. It is a sustainable building set, which prioritizes the energy economy, as well as simple maintenance. All this human and artificial construction, combined with the use of vegetation
