Project idea

The idea of this project stems from the need to create a space for emotional and spiritual contemplation within the natural beauty of Gödence Village in Seferihisar, Turkey. Gödence Reborn is designed as a journey—both physical and psychological—where visitors can reflect on life, death, and rebirth through a carefully curated spatial experience.

The project responds to a universal need for personal introspection and healing. By guiding individuals through a sequence of spaces—beginning in a cemetery, descending underground to symbolize death, and ultimately emerging into nature to symbolize rebirth—it aims to foster self-awareness, inner peace, and emotional renewal. The interplay of light, shadow, silence, and landscape forms the backbone of the project’s narrative, offering a meditative experience in harmony with nature.

Gödence Reborn offers more than just a place to visit; it serves as a sanctuary for those seeking meaning, healing, and a renewed connection to life.

Project description

Gödence Reborn
Location: Gödence Village, Seferihisar, Turkey

Nestled within the serene landscapes of Gödence Village, renowned for its olive groves and natural beauty, Gödence Reborn is a space designed to guide visitors on a journey of contemplation, renewal, and self-awareness. This project embraces the deeply personal nature of reflection, offering spaces for silent thought, emotional connection, and rebirth in harmony with the rhythm of nature.

The journey begins with a pathway leading visitors through a peaceful cemetery surrounded by trees. This atmosphere, reminding one of life's transience, allows for a deeper connection with oneself and the surrounding world.

The path then guides visitors to a corridor descending 4 meters underground. Symbolizing death, this descent offers a space for solitude and quiet contemplation, enabling visitors to question the concept of mortality and reflect on their own life journey. Blank canvases placed along the corridor walls invite personal introspection, while beams of light filtering through openings in the ceiling create an atmosphere that immerses visitors in the flow of life rather than separating them from it. These rays of light add depth to the reflective journey, reinforcing the continuity of time and the ever-present cycle of existence.

At the end of the corridor, visitors emerge into a tranquil space surrounded by trees, where the breathtaking Gödence landscape unfolds before them. Representing the concept of Rebirth, this space offers an opportunity for visitors to complete their inner journey—whether by writing, speaking, or simply embracing the serenity of the moment.

Finally, a walking path through the forest leads visitors to a resting area, where the beauty and tranquility of life can be experienced with a renewed perspective. The design fosters a deep connection with nature, providing a space for emotional healing, renewal, and peace.

Gödence Reborn is not just a physical journey but an experience that invites individuals to reflect, understand their inner processes, and embrace renewal. By embracing diverse forms of contemplation, this sanctuary serves as a refuge for those seeking introspection, awareness, and rebirth.
