Canopy for rest

Aleksandra Fursaeva

Project idea

The proposed project is a unique canopy structure designed for relaxation, combining innovative architectural forms with elements of glazing. This canopy will serve as a multifunctional space for guests to unwind, socialize, or engage in activities while being sheltered from the elements.

Project description

Design Concept:
Unconventional Shape:
- The canopy features an organic, flowing shape that mimics natural forms, such as leaves or waves. This design not only stands out aesthetically but also enhances the overall ambiance, creating a calming environment.
Glazed Elements:
- Sections of the canopy are constructed using large, curved glass panels that allow natural light to filter through while providing panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The use of high-performance glass ensures thermal efficiency and UV protection.

Technical information

Structural Framework:
- The structure is supported by a combination of lightweight steel and laminated timber, providing strength and flexibility. The framework allows for wide spans, minimizing the need for internal supports and maximizing open space.
Flexible Seating Areas:
- The interior space features modular seating arrangements, including hammocks, lounge chairs, and picnic tables, allowing for various configurations based on the number of users and their activities. These seating options are designed for comfort and relaxation.
Weather Resilience:
- The design considers local weather conditions, incorporating retractable sunshades and rainwater management systems to ensure functionality and comfort throughout the year.
