The project is a closed gymnasium within the expansion of Hama University to hold sports competitions for students and raise the level of sports in the region.
The Concept is the circular shape of Muscat, which this city is accustomed to using circles in.
The hall includes two main entrances, one for the audience and the other for the competing teams. The entrance for the audience contains a lobby leading to the cafeteria and the administrative section, a baw for the technical sections, a special place for buying tickets, and stairs to go up to the stands. As for the entrance for the teams, it contains a lobby and a referees’ room with a special section for each team containing a coaches’ room, a changing room, bathrooms, and showers.
The building combines modern and classic design in the facade, which represents the history of the city.
Two structural systems were used in the design: structural frame and metal frame, where the teams section, administration, lobby, cafeteria and basement are structural frame system, while the stands, roofs and exterior are metal frame system where the metal is solidified as shown in the pictures, and inside it is fiberglass wool and in some spaces there may be black glass that allows light to enter. The upper surface of the hall can be opened to ensure ventilation, the hall can be used for basketball, tennis and volleyball where the appropriate furniture can be changed, the floor of the hall is made of sports parquet
