Project idea

The building enhances site continuity by mirroring a key axis from the adjacent structure, seamlessly integrating into its Nişantaşı neighborhood context in Istanbul. It harmonizes with the natural topography, creating a dynamic flow that blends movement with the terrain. Strategically oriented to capitalize on sea views, the design embraces its surroundings while responding to the vibrant student presence in the area, given its proximity to ITU University and other educational institutions. Inspired by the semi-open spaces of the Milli Reasürans Building, it reinterprets these nostalgic elements to reflect Nişantaşı architectural heritage, creating inviting spaces that bridge the past and present

Project description

The building is organized across four distinct topographic levels, beginning at +6 meters near the main road, stepping down to +3 meters, +0 meters, and finally -3 meters. This multi-level configuration results in a total of 9 levels, reaching a maximum height of 23 meters. Two terraces are positioned at +10 meters and the rooftop, enhancing outdoor usability.

Three levels are dedicated to housing units for students and academicians, located at +14, +17, and +20 meters. Common spaces, including the library, cafeteria, computer café, meeting rooms, and study areas, are situated at +6 meters. Public access is concentrated on the +3 and +0 levels, where visitors can access admissions, semi-open exhibition/café spaces, and a waiting area. Creative facilities such as art and music studios are distributed across the +0 and +3 levels. The -3 level accommodates a gym, while underground parking is provided on both -3 and +0 levels. This layered approach maximizes functionality while harmonizing with the site's topography.
