Under the topic of one village one community, this competition project aims to revitalize the existing site in the capital to create more community space and to attract the locals and tourism. I picked one of the sites in the past French district which our public perception see it as the district of administrative area.
The current state of the national library site which was built during the French protectorate period and is now registered as a heritage building. With the aging infrastructure, strict space functions, and the front space acts as a parking space instead. By proposing new buildings that reflect the Khmer identity to contrast the existing context on both sides to support new function and library functions + the front space to an outdoor gathering plaza for the community.
The construction of the new building are made out of lightweight materials such as steel, concrete, and tile.
