Project idea

Dhaka city is considered one of the densest urban cities in the world. Old Dhaka, often called Puran Dhaka, is the oldest and most densely populated part of town. And CHAWK BAZAAR is the heart of Old Dhaka and it is the most active part of Old Dhaka, being a commercial hub and wholesale market. The Chawk bazaar has a history itself. It is the site
that holds evidence of a 400 years old city.

Chawk bazaar is currently having a tough time giving its people access to urban facilities.
there's almost no open space within the whole area. This area has been a burden for Old Dhaka for a long time. Because of this area suffers from low urban living standards with poor transport and drainage systems, old earthquake-prone buildings, hazardous industrial activities, lack of open space, traffic congestion, and dense fire-prone plots. During an emergency, vehicles like ambulances and fire engines encounter lots of
difficulties passing in the streets, which often lands city dwellers of the old part in big trouble.

This project can be a good way to get rid of the situation in the Participatory approach. It
will be meeting the problems of urban and community. It will be an example of the
possible solutions for other shopping clusters of Old Dhaka.
