Project idea

The COVID-19 pandemic has focused the relationship between the environment and human health as a form of nature balance. "A Harmony Between Space and Nature", this design project applies aspects of the Yin and Yang philosophy by connecting humans with the nature surroundings into the design of Ciputra University Jakarta which is aimed to creating a healthy environment for the entire academic community, especially regarding students mental health which is a very important issue nowadays.

Project description

Standing on an area of 10.000 m2, Ciputra University Jakarta provides a calm and healhty environment in the midst of the busy city of Jakarta by prioritizing the mental and physical health of students. Yin and Yang is a philosophy about nature balance which inspired the concept of the design of Ciputra University Jakarta. There are many open space area and nature elements that create a nature balance that can give a good impact on the entire academic community.

The concept of balance of Yin and Yang transformed into the buildings:
Wood : wood materials in the building interior.
Fire : Lighting in the interior and exterior of the building
Earth : Greenery open space area
Metal : Metal materials as the secondary skin for the facade of the building.
Water : There is a pond in the student lounge area as a water element.

Technical information

The construction of the building are made of concrete structure with a module span of 6x6 m and coloumn diameter of 50x50 cm. there is a core in the middle of the bulding with a wall thickness of 30 cm which functions as a lift area, emergency stairs, toilet, and MEP room. For the facade of the buildings using a Glass Curtain Wall System as a secondary skin for thermal isolation.
