Project idea

The BronzeBloome Arena project is a contemporary reimagining of the historic Shiroudi Stadium, designed for an Architectural Technology Design course. The stadium, with a seating capacity of 6,000, features a distinctive roof structure highlighted by a bronze metal waffle coating. This roof, created using parametric principles in Grasshopper software, incorporates square polycarbonate waffle panels, blending modern design with functional aesthetics. The project involves detailed digital modeling followed by meticulous physical construction using wood for its authenticity and durability, and laser cutting for precise detailing. The main spectator entrance is on the main street, while player access is from the east, with an internal link to the Shiroudi sports complex enhancing accessibility. This endeavor exemplifies the integration of advanced digital tools with traditional craftsmanship, resulting in a stunning replica that captures the essence of the original stadium and demonstrates the synergy between technology and artistry in architectural design.

Project description

The nomenclature “BronzeBloome Arena” has been selected with a deliberate focus on the Reimagining of the Shiroudi Stadium. This stadium boasts a seating capacity of 6,000 spectators. Its architectural distinctiveness lies in the utilization of a bronze metal waffle coating for the stadium’s roof, which was meticulously designed using parametric principles through Grasshopper software. The roofing structure comprises a grid of square waffle panels constructed from polycarbonate material. Access to the arena is facilitated through the primary entrance on the main street, while player ingress is exclusively catered for from the eastern side. Additionally, an internal connection is provided to the Shiroudi sports complex, situated on the western flank of the entrance, enhancing accessibility and functionality.

Technical information

Constructing the Shiroudi multi-purpose stadium replica for Architectural Technology Design 1 was an extraordinary journey blending modern technology and traditional craftsmanship. Beginning with Grasshopper software, I meticulously designed the stadium, ensuring accuracy in every aspect. The virtual blueprint provided a comprehensive guide for the physical construction using wood and laser cutting. The choice of wood offered durability and authenticity, while the laser cutting technology allowed for intricate detailing and precise shaping of components. Patiently, I assembled each piece, paying careful attention to replicating the stadium’s distinct features. The project was a testament to the synergy between digital design and hands-on skills, resulting in a stunning replica that embodied the essence of Shiroodi Stadium while fostering a deeper appreciation for the intersection of technology and artistry in construction.
