Project idea

The proposal organically integrates into the current environment with respect to local architecture and nature, trying not to disturb the beauty of the Tatra
village. It highlights the importance of the rich history of Stary Smokovec, specifically the Bellevue building, placing it at the forefront of attention. As the first
structure of the city, Belleuvue building demonstrates Stary Smokovec significance. However, behind the historical building lies a new construction, which
provides the best chance to fully enjoy leisure time and comfortably withstand bad weather in the middle of the High Tatras.

Project description

Despite not being very noticeable, the new building offers extensive space for cultural programs, art, and quality leisure activities, which are largely lacking
in the area. It provides a sensible division of spaces for long-term exhibitions, short-term cultural events, as well as one-time activities. It also offers space
for quick refreshments after a challenging hike or as a shelter from bad weather. Building focuses on communication between interior and exterior spaces to
ensure visitors don't lose connection with the beauty of the surrounding area they came to see.

Technical information

The proposal also corresponds to the modern technical requirements. Buildings orientation is intentionally
towards the southern side, where glazed surfaces are positioned to capture solar heat, while the northern side is
entirely below ground level, enabling sustainable operation of the facility.
