Project idea

The idea of the project is to build a fortification that will be observed as a stage, in which the visitor identifies the space scenography and uses the new environment as a medium to convey mood and interpret meanings depicted within certain spatial narratives. The work tends to show the importance creation of a sustainable strategy, the meaning of which lies in the understanding of the mechanism system and involving the ecosystem through its interactions with the designed structures. In this context, the theoretical part of the work focuses on ideas about perception and virtual creation worlds, while the methodological part focuses on the application of those ideas in the creation of design model and prototype on the example of Mamula fortress.

Project description

Diagrams of the initial phase of the project, allow the disclosure and understanding of the secondary, hidden, invisible causes and consequences, or relationships and networking of different elements
more precisely the ways in which they function. Using the method of research through hand drawing a triptych of thematic entities, more precisely prison, mythology, and a new topos, which will be discussed later, was formed examination, modeling as well as spatial, recomposition and genesis of the project materializes through the formed fragments, creating a new world that can be seen as abstract machine. In this way, the drawing is created on the basis of a certain theory and methodology relying on the existing physical structures of the context forming a strategic drawing.
The work opens up the possibility for a multiplicity of layering of reality, creating a visual experience in own fragments. What characterizes this temporal digital paradigm is fragmentation of the homogeneous linear flow of time creating a mechanism for its new experience with potentially creating time capsules and portals that enable their mutual transfers.
Through research in the field of digital architecture, through mapping the field of imagination, collage and creation of dreamscapes and allegorical fragments of drawings, with emphasis on the analysis of boundaries
functions and forms elaborated through a series of models and triptych hand drawings, the goal is reached of translating virtual worlds into real spatial frameworks.
By designing the entire move as an integrated set of biophilic systems, the thesis proposes that every component of the new urban environment becomes participatory, making fundamental of that system. The entire system can be imagined in relation to subsystems, systems that they work at the macro and micro levels, covering the entire range from urban to human scales. It is about moving the field and releasing the architecture of fixed positions that create them prerequisites for the concept of fragmentation, without the intention of talking about the end and the new beginning, but about relocation to another dematerialized reality. The elements of the composition do not constitute a static one
scenario depending on time, situation, program, it is possible to adjust the scale, transform it and supplement it with new elements while in the abstract sense they remain essentially unchanged and always retain their typical significance and scope as existing structures Mamula fortress.
The newly created space exceeds the limits of the remains of the cultural heritage, it is mobile liminal space that also includes a series of surrounding fortresses with which the project is formed, faithfully following the legend of the island of Swallow, connects them, and unites them into one cluster dealing with by researching the application of general principles for the preservation of cultural heritage in the digital age, as well as researching innovative and interactive ways of applying these principles.

Technical information

The basic methods of urban renewal are primarily applied in the renovation of individual buildings and quarters, industrial buildings and complexes, central areas of the city, as well as the acquisition of coastal areas. In terms of focus of urban renewal projects on the expected results, the following can be singled out: material renovation, more precisely renovation of space and environment, economic renovation and social renovation. Whether a space or a building will be part of an urban renewal project does not depend only on spatial considerations convenience and often from the symbolic value of cultural heritage.
