Project description

Our aim is not only to preserve the place where history took place, but also to prove its value in modern society and to expand its influence as a modern museum, so we want to provide local children, students, researchers, residents and visitors with a personal touch, experience of history and cultural complex carrying the functions of modern public architecture.
When entering the starting point of the flow line, that is, the front courtyard enclosed by the new building, the sight line is controlled in the state of three equal parts, and the view Angle of the middle museum area and the buildings on both sides is equal. The Angle of sight generated by the vertical dividing line of each face is also equal. In this way, visitors' sight is controlled in an orderly manner, and its sequence is highlighted. The placement is corresponding to the importance, and the parts of the building that should not be seen in this position will not be displayed at all. Moving forward, a new equal view ratio relationship will be formed, and the newly emerged ark facade forms a 1:1 ratio with the square and the whole of Building 2 and 3, and is also located in the center position

Technical information

About the structure. we repaired and replaced the window and door openings with light-colored concrete. terrazzo cladding and repaired the broken façade surfaces. The chimney is used as a light opening in the roof, and the light from the top will vary over time.
Warm white concrete, white terrazzo and H-shaped steel are used as the main construction materials. Entering the site from the main axis, visitors first arrive at the courtyard in front of the "mountain gate", where they stand at the starting point of the circulation line. From this perspective, the buildings on both sides of the site are grand and pure and light in a modern way. The rooftops floating on the colonnades and walls form a strong perspective and depth, guiding the audience to the end of the water flow facing the "mountain gate". The theme is represented by Square 4 and the museum complex. On the left are the restaurant and the office building, the former is one floor, the latter is three floors; To the right is the Cultural and educational building, with discussion rooms, classrooms, multimedia rooms, front desk services and presentations.
In terms of construction, we have partially preserved Building No. 5, mainly retaining the zigzag skylight, which is a symbol of the textile industry, and most of the structural skeleton. We have removed the surrounding additions and made its volume more in line with the surrounding buildings, but we have retained the outer columns and some beams, making the whole structure clearly displayed step by step. The industrial character originally confined to the interior of the building is extended to the outward-facing plaza, emphasizing the theme and atmosphere of the park. The array of columns, together with the outer square and curved wall, form a space that guides the natural transition from the outside to the inside, which can be used to set up tents as temporary markets or outdoor activities and exhibition areas.
