Project idea

One day God decided to create the Golden Land on earth - an abode of peace and happiness. He called the Deer, the Falcon and the Cedar and ordered everyone to look for the best place for themselves. Where their paths converge, there will be the Golden Land.

The Deer galloped on the ground for a long time. The Falcon rose high into the sky. Cedar was deeply rooted in the earth. And finally they met in a mountainous country, where all three felt good and free. There the Golden Land arose, whose name is Altai.

I propose a project that will become a vector for the economic and social development of Altai. The goal of the project is to turn Altai into the same Golden Land from the legend.

Project description

The concept of the Altai aerotropolis is the intersection of interests of different social groups, biological species and different countries. In the new city, nature, technology and people find a place for themselves in cooperation. A multifunctional hub is the center of an aerotropolis that weaves together flows of people.

The aerotropolis in Altai is a mega-formation of three levels: mass of buildings, biolandscape and dispersed production. The biolandscape also plays a big role in urban planning and the formation of the city grid: its smooth forms cover a clear block grid of streets, creating individual forms of blocks. The biolandscape also serves as a connector between the urban environment and nature of Altai.

The project will become the engine of economic and social development of the city of Gorno-Altaisk. It involves the transformation of Gorny Altai in the future into the most important tourist hub in the country.

Technical information

The existing airport has low capacity and the building itself is not durable. Therefore, it was decided to demolish the old airport and build a new one in its place.

The construction of a new airport will be an economic boost: it will provide new jobs and create the opportunity to receive a larger flow of tourists in Gorno-Altaisk.

The projected passenger traffic of the projected airport for domestic and international airlines is 1 million passengers per year. The project provides for the expansion of the runway by 550 meters.

The area of the proposed multimodal hub is 15,000 m2

The designed air hub is divided into zones in accordance with the main flow at the airport: a public zone and a security zone. The airport is also divided into left and right wings, respectively, an area of international flights and an area of domestic flights, the flows of which do not intersect in the security zone.

The flows of departing and arriving people are divided by level. There are entrances to the first and second levels.
