Project idea

The rejuvenating transit hub focuses on creating a transportation system that connects people efficiently while rejuvenating several user categories. This project aims to revitalize Nugegoda's transit and transport sector, forging stronger connections with the public and reinforcing the city's urban identity. By implementing innovative strategies. Nugegoda will not only enhance its transportation infrastructure but also promote a greener and more livable environment for its residents and commuters.

Project description

This project focuses on a concept of how to refuel the users and make them ready for the next journey as well as the city character is enhanced through this seamless flow of users to this enriched green space.
This will re-energize the commuters who follow up the same routine every day and how to revitalize the missing character or the urban element of Nugegoda.
To fill in the missing character in Nugegoda landscape is used. It is not only used to enhance the beauty of the city with turf areas, trees and floras but uses landscape to gain an economic benefit as well.
Creates a new character to the congested city just like giving the missing essence to Nugegoda. Addressing the issues plaguing the abandoned bus stand, the proposal envisions a comprehensive solution. It includes the creation of a public park with a rich array of recreational activities and waiting areas, with a focus on engaging the young crowd and students in Nugegoda. This strategic move aims to breathe new life into the site, making it a vibrant destination.

Technical information

Transportation plays a major role within an urban context hence it is one of the main urban design elements. Transport infrastructure shapes the city and gives a character bringing up the quality of life of the people. Nugegoda is the closest city to Colombo and a significant transit hub which has a connection to many different cities.
But this satellite city does not reflect its important character ‘’transition’’ effectively.

A building which does not look like a building. Just like the operation of a battery cell, the building itself acts as a cell drawing the public and providing rejuvenating pockets, elements, lively landscapes, and important functions.
A cell that produces energy, hence the commuter will be rejuvenated during their stay and get some services done. This process will become a part of their lifestyle.

The architectural design, featuring a ramp-style building seamlessly integrated with the surrounding landscape, creates an inviting and multipurpose space. It effectively serves as both a transportation hub and a recreational area, with the understanding of urban dynamics.
