Project idea

The theme of the competition is to renovate the site of Schindler's Ark, and 1200 Jews on Schindler's list are preserved in the Survivor Museum. Its vision is to establish a monument for survivors and protect the heritage of Schindler's Ark, and create a modern museum dedicated to survivors. Meanwhile, the south side of the location will be rebuilt as sustainable community housing to meet the needs of the area. The sustainability of the project is supported by a survivor museum, a large workshop that includes textile activities, and modern sustainable housing that meets community needs. We have chosen the prototype sustainable living village located in the southern area of the venue. To commemorate Schindler, the facade of this project is composed of Morse code lines from the movie.

The plan should include up to 150 apartments and multi generational units, including public spaces, as well as community facilities for young families and the elderly.

Residential units should have modular properties, and the number of residential units should be able to be expanded in future construction phases.

Technical information

In this project, we mainly use the framework of containers as the structure of the building. The container is a prefabricated component, assembled from different components, and can be disassembled freely by sight.Container is a standardized steel box according to specifications. The characteristic of containers is that they have a uniform format and can be stacked layer by layer, so they can be placed in large quantities on specially designed ocean going ships, providing manufacturers around the world with cheaper bulk transportation services than air freight.
