Project idea

Every year man is becoming more and more functional and efficient. He sits at home more and more, and in the worst case, he also works outside of working hours. There is less time for a comparatively larger number of tasks. And the man of the future needs to be able not only to adapt to new conditions, but also to find the time he needs for self-reflection.
The architectural project "Space Zero" is an innovative study that rethinks the concept of the courtyard. This project is a response to the changing needs of people, providing spaces with a constant relevance.

Project description

The architectural project ‘‘Zero Space” is an innovative exploration that reimagines the concept of a courtyard.
In classical architectural designs, courtyards often serve as seating areas or spaces for internal communication. However, in the project “Zero Space” the author proposes to use the courtyard as the “beginning” of the formation of the surrounding space, as something stable.
The spatial principle of the house is based on the overlapping spaces. The central courtyard is a zero stable point. It is gradually being filled with additional spaces: living modules, workshops, guest houses and craft units. Thus, the structure of the house consists of a stable core (courtyard) and dynamic shells (functional modules). The courtyard forms an autonomous space consisting of an active garden and an exploitable roof connecting the living rooms of the residents. Moreover, the house is surrounded by a horse trail in the external space.

Technical information

The house is built primarily from wood, so the material will retain heat inside in cold weather and maintain moisture-temperature balance.
The building was erected on a strip foundation, such a foundation is moderately stable and light to implement the idea of a stable heart of the house, from which the development of the house proceeds. Plus, such a foundation will make it possible to find landscape solutions for the courtyard.
The walls of the house are built from a wooden frame, lined with wooden slats. This solution will make it easy to build the necessary functional blocks. The project proposes to use a flat roof so that the walking areas located on the roof of the first floor have greater visibility.
