The project is inspired by Mies van der Roh's principles: in fact, it shows lightweight perimeter windows that support a tectonic structure, where nature became one with human construction.
The project concerns the expansion of the Ca'Foscari Campus in Mestre (Venice), which features an auditorium, canteen, study rooms, a large exhibition area, and an outdoor entertainment area.
The structure consists of a steel frame, concealed with the downspouts in the buffered walls of the central plan layout. This allows a perimeter of a light double skin window, which supports the heavy overhanging floors. The exhibition area, with large light and revolving display panels, was designed on the existing structure of Mangiarotti and Favini.
