AQUATIC CENTER

Project idea

The concept of this project was to create a public space which is AQUATIC CENTER and for that we wanted it to be integrated in the site , by following the form of the existing buildings on the actual site and by using the principles of modernism and quote " LESS IS MORE " by ludwig van de Rohe

Project description

This project consists of a single building, of two levels so we have a basement which is specially used for the car parking and the technical spaces which are: electrical room, mechanical room, pool equipment room, storages, surveillance camera room, corridor, aquarium room space and gaming room without forgetting our large car parking lot and VIP car parking for competitors.
on the ground floor we have at the main entrance a large gallery with a seating area, we have the large gymnastics room, we have the diving pool space with seating areas , we have the administration, the lab pool space, the children pools space and a large plaza,
on the first level is specially for competitions on the right side to benefit from the view of the sea, the SPA pools, two other special function pools which are water polo and water volleyball and then a leisure pool outside the building.
Due to the warm climate of Northern Cyprus, we created a square that contains pools with fountains, seating areas and plant elements so that when the summer breeze passes through the water, it cools the air, creating a very comfortable atmosphere in the southern part of the site. We also connected our building to public space. which is the amphitheater by a bridge to allow people and visitors to access it directly without crossing the road to avoid car traffic jams and traffic accidents too.

Technical information

The construction of the building is made of REINFORCE OF CONCRETE This typically includes columns, beams, and slabs, which work together to support the weight of the building and transfer loads to the foundation so the concrete frame structure is specially used on the basement floor and ground floor of the building , Why choosing this structure ? Because Concrete frame structures are ideal
for aquatic centers due to their durability
against water and corrosion, structural
strength for heavy loads like pools and
seating, design flexibility, inherent fire
resistance for safety in crowded spaces, and
longevity.
and the I-BEAM (ROOF) : In the building especially in wet spaces area (pools) we find it suitable to use the I-BEAM mixed can carry the weight of the roof while the columns provide vertical support and to distribute the load to the foundation .
and about the facade we decided to use the POLYCARBONE FACADE that it is the most suitable for us because choosing a polycarbonate plastic facade offers many benefits. and also the GLASS in our project is really important , we wanted to have natural light of approximately 85% inside the building so we won't use much of artificial light during the day and also because it can improve and indoor comfort and reduction cooling energy demand .
