Project idea

The idea of the restaurant project is to maximize the opportunity of the owner's background as a farming entrepreneur from Lombok, therefore a restaurant design is proposed. As we know, Lombok has a significant growth on tourism sector these pest few years. This phenomenon surely brings positive impacts for the tourism growth in Lombok but on the other hand, the influx of foreign/external cultures poses a threat to Lombok's culture and identity. Other than the external problem, the site location itself is also quite far from tourism spots and transportation infrastructures therefore making it challenging to attract foreign tourist as the restaurant's main market.

Project description

The solution for external problem is to implement locality elements on hospitality facilities therefore the tourist will be educated about the identity of the place they're visiting. The solution for internal problems are to focus on creating attractive facade and style to attract tourist and add souvenir shop to create more value for restaurant as a one stop solution for the tourists.

Technical information

The construction of the building focuses on using raw local materials and vernacular techniques of Gumantar Villages architecture because the aesthetic of Lombok's vernacular architecture focuses on the raw materials and the exposed structures. Some alterations/modifications are made to make the vernacular design adapt with the project's context.
