Project idea

The project aims to utilize underused vertical surfaces, rooftops, and gaps between buildings sustainably, adding functional spaces in densely populated areas. It seeks to provide affordable, adaptable, and temporary architectural solutions that enhance urban aesthetics while preserving existing infrastructure.

Project description

Parasitic Architecture: A design approach integrating architectural elements onto existing structures without altering the host building’s form. It creates new spaces reliant on the host for support, services, or infrastructure.

Technical information

The Bird Nest Extension concept, inspired by bird nests, aims to create individual study nooks within lecture halls. The materials used for the structure include structural steel metal, glass fiber reinforced panels, lumber planks for interior finishes, and lightweight glass for windows and glazing. The design focuses on providing privacy, comfort, and minimal distractions, with secure attachment mechanisms and strategic positioning.
