Project idea

The main idea of this design is to preserve the ethnic culture and tradition of Birishiri by creating a journey through architecture.

Project description

Respecting Garo traditional architecture while balancing modern needs creates a harmonious blend of heritage and contemporary utility. To blend with Birishiri’s low-rise landscape and foster community engagement, the Cultural Academy’s height has been kept low. It's multiple pedestrian entries enhance connectivity with the neighborhood, transforming it into a common gathering space for all. Strategically positioned access points encourage interaction with residents, making it an inviting hangout spot. This design promotes inclusivity and accessibility, strengthening community bonds and enriching the cultural landscape of Birishiri while honoring Garo heritage.

Technical information

The use of authentic materials and modern techniques skillfully blended with elements representing their traditional way of life and daily activities was essential for this project.
Locally sourced brick, bamboo and rope have been used in this project.
Also there are uses of thermal resistance teflon and concrete.
