Project idea

Our kindergarten project is located in Lomé, TOGO and occupies an area of 2000 m2, with children’s playgrounds.
For our architectural design of the kindergarten, the use of a baby sock as a source of inspiration, allowed us to explore innovative ideas and in an original way.
A baby sock is often associated with softness, protection and comfort. Using this symbol, we sought to create an educational environment that is welcoming, warm and safe for young children.
The objective of a nursery school is to provide young children with an educational environment that promotes their overall development: (Stimulate intellectual curiosity and interest in learning; introduce the basics of academic skills, such as reading, writing, drawing, etc.)

Project description

Our kindergarten building has two levels:
On the ground floor, we have: a reception room, 4 classrooms depending on the age of the children, a large room for the dormitory, a motor skills room, a library, an infirmary, a canteen, a teachers room, an archives room, a supervisors room,
First level: office manager, office secretary and accountant, meeting room, store
We also have the play areas that consist of: a sandbox, small slides, a bike track, swings,

Technical information

Our kindergarten, will be made with materials found in Lomé such as: the use of concrete (cement, sand, gravel and water), metal and glass. The realization will be well thought out by making large glazed windows and wearing sunscreens, colors that could influence not only the aesthetics of the environment, but also the well-being, learning and behavior of children. The budget for this project is $827,226.96. This budget was developed according to the realities of the city of Lomé in Togo by including the entire project. (all earthwork, building elevation, carpentry, electricity, plumbing and exterior work).
