THE IDEA WAS GENERATED FROM THE TRADTIONAL FOREST HOUSE WHERE NOT DISTURBING NATURE IS A KEY CONCEPT OF THE PROJECT.

Project description

An information center is a physical location that provides information about any place, service or
anything. It will be at a specific attraction or place of interest, such as landmark, national park, national
forest, or state park, providing information (such as trail maps, and about camp sites, staff contact,
restrooms, etc.) and in-depth educational exhibits and artifact displays (for example, about natural or
cultural history). An information center provides visitors with information on the area's attractions,
lodgings, maps, and other items relevant to tourism. These are often operated at the airport or other port
of entry, by the local government or chamber of commerce. They provide on-site visual, digital, and
physical customer support service to visitors. They provide practical and ongoing information about
attractions, tourist services, and emergencies (if need be) They boost visitor confidence and provide safe
directions for travel within the community.
For this studio project students are assigned to design an information center that provides information to
the visitors which is placed in the tourist attracting location and also accommodates a display area.
Space Requirements:
Site Area: 300 Sqm app.
Built Area: 75-80 + 30% = 100 Sqm
The building program for the information Centre will be as given below:
1. Lobby, Reception with waiting ----------- 15 Sqm
2. Office ------------------------------------------15 Sqm
3. Display area ---------------------------------- 20-25 Sqm
4. Souvenir shop ---------------------------------10 Sqm
5. Toilet facilities ---------------------------------25 sqm
- (Male - 2 WB, 1 WC, 1 urinals),
- (Female – 2 WB, 1 WC) and
- Minimum 1 unit for differently able person
- 1 Janitor room
6. 30% Circulation
7. 2 Car Parking (Road Side)
