Project idea

The main idea was to create a house for the couple without artificial lighting and to focus mainly on sunlight. It was important to think about how sunlight can create an interior at different times of the day. The main lighting is ensured by means of French windows from the south. The living room is also illuminated from the west and the bedroom from the east. The central core illuminates the roof skylight across the width of the roof structure and reduces parts of the entire light-transmitting concrete. In addition, the northern part of the house is illuminated by the gaps between the individual masses, skylights and the northern sash window.

Project description

The house is located by the river bank. The plot is slightly sloping to the river on the south side of the plot. There are no built-up plots around the plot. The building is separated from the surrounding buildings by greenery to the east and west. The house is partially cantilevered over the river. All views from the interior are oriented towards the river, on which there are two weirs and an island. The driveway to the house leads diagonally across the property, which is lined with planted birch trees.
The house is two-storey. It consists of three masses that are inserted into each other and rotated. Each mass contains one zone. The entrance block from the north side has a service zone. The lower part of the pyramid contains a social zone and the upper part of the pyramid a rest zone. The main entrance is in the north, through which you can get to the bathroom, utility room and through the sliding door to the main social part of the house. It contains a kitchen with a dining room, a living room and a glass staircase through which we get to the bedroom on the first floor. The bedroom also has a small office and access to the roof terrace.

Technical information

The building is designed as a monolithic structure made of reinforced concrete. The vertical supporting structures are supplemented with polystyrene insulation and mineral wool. In addition, work is being done on the 1st floor translucent concrete. There is a ceiling above the 1st floor from reinforced concrete into pre-prepared formwork. Equally a counter roof structure is being solved, which is additionally supplemented about thermal insulation. The floors in the service area have a tread a layer of tiles, on the other hand, the floors in quiet and social zones have a warm wooden tread layer. Due of large cantilevering above the river, deep ones will be needed foundations for load transfer.
