Project idea

THE FUNCTION:
Imagine a space not of sterile walls and rigid routines, but a place where you experiment, work on concrete projects, where your ideas do not stop at research.
This is a moonshot factory.

/ MOONSHOT IDEA / noun.
Def.
a groundbreaking and transformative concept, often characterized by its scientific or technological innovation, which seeks to achieve a significant breakthrough or solve a complex problem on a grand scale.

And a moonshot factory, is where this idea come to life.

THE CONCEPT:

Moonshot factories are all about ideas that evolve constantly. The finest evidence of human culture evolution is Architecture.

Ancient times, Greeks and Romans, we were in order, this represents the norms, the rules set for us. Our untamed idea (the inter-chronicle) tries to interfere, but it cannot, for the rules are too strict.
In the second phase, our idea encounters chaos, a battle of many architectural movements in search of balance. Here, the inter-chronicle, the wild idea, is evolving in a chaotic manner,it is a solid at times, it is a void at others, and it scatters as planes.
The third and final phase, we embrace the wild idea, the building start taking shape around it with a balanced manner. This is the final phase of the creative idea where it comes to life.

The evolution roller coaster takes exemplary buildings from each era, orders them as per function, and makes the frames, as time portals, the ordering principle.

The project is a testament on chronicles of architectural evolution.

Project description

The experimental moonshot factory will take big ideas as radical solutions for urgent problems. It will be the first experimental center that is engaged with the public in Qatar and in the world.
The vision is to transform the typical science park into a creative playground.
Its architecture will reflect experimentation, technology, and inspire possibilities.
it will consist of :
Phase 1- chronicle 1: public spaces and exhibitions
Phase 2- chronicle 2: Moonshot Labs that are adaptable and ever-growing as they are modular.
Phase 3- chronicle 3: Fully Pledged studios for the finalization of projects, and this part of the building is fully private and controlled for confidentiality.

Technical information

STRUCTURE (for more info check page 79-82)
The structure of the building also follows the chronicle concept. Starting with RCC structure for order Chronicle 1.
Then a mix of steel structure catwalk systems, and steel space frames for chronicle 2. the rings are supported by space frames and more rings can be added in the future to accommodate the expanding need for more labs. All labs are fully customizable and preordered and prefabricated.

Chronicle 3 : is RCC structure to refer to finding balance again.

The inter-chronicle mass, (the fluid idea) is a steel diagrid system.

INTEGRATION OF SYSTEMS (for more info check page 87-88)
all rooms required to support the MEP are placed in the basement, with connection to the accessible roofs.
the moonshot modular labs can be connected to the systems in the rings, which are in turn connected to the system of the building.
