Project idea

This engineering diploma thesis explores the Rudniki district and the surroundings of Litewska Street in Gdańsk, focusing on the symbiotic relationship between the essence of sailing and the yacht production industry. The project envisions an academy and leisure hub within the catamaran production zone, with two interconnected structures—one for the academy and the other for apartments—linked by a suspended restaurant. The architectural design, inspired by the form of a catamaran, emphasizes fluidity and movement, with exterior stairs enhancing visual connectivity and leading users to a central bridge.

Project description

A comprehensive complex in the Rudniki district of Gdańsk, combining yachting education and certification with recreational sailing opportunities. The project will develop a facility dedicated to sailing and catamarans, including an academy, residential spaces, and a marina, addressing the current lack of local infrastructure for water-based activities. By integrating historical and industrial elements with modern architectural design, the project seeks to enhance the area's economic and social vitality, while implementing robust flood prevention measures and promoting sustainable development.

Technical information

The design features two distinct structures: a hotel and an office space, interconnected by a suspended restaurant that symbolizes the central command of a catamaran. Emphasizing both functionality and aesthetics, the architecture integrates robust flood prevention measures and extensive green spaces, creating a cohesive and sustainable environment that mirrors the essence of maritime innovation and the spirit of sailing.
