Project idea

The project draws inspiration from the idea of mining Earth for precious gems like diamonds and emeralds, likening culture and arts to these valuable gems. Learning about culture and arts is akin to the process of mining, extracting valuable knowledge and beauty. The project's name pays homage to the Letšeng diamond mine in Lesotho, Africa, renowned as one of the world's largest mines.

Project description

The state prioritizes sustainable development of employment opportunities, aiming to enhance the well-being and quality of life for the Egyptian people, with culture and arts playing a crucial role. Increased awareness and development in these areas contribute to an improved standard of living.

The New Urban Communities Authority has designated a distinct plot of land in the Aqayim area of 6th of October City, specifically in the Axis 26th July area. This location is strategically chosen to ensure easy accessibility and to serve as a landmark for the region.

This project, spanning an area of 120 x 150 square meters, includes:

- Main Auditorium (seating 1000)
- Small Auditorium (seating 200)
- Exhibition Spaces
- Training Center
- Food Court
- Administrative Offices

It will host a variety of social and artistic activities, meetings, and exhibitions across different fields, fostering cultural enrichment and community engagement.

Technical information

The building features folded structures and emphasizes sustainability through several strategies. Sun breakers on the southern facade minimize direct sunlight, green roofs lower roof temperatures, and solar panels generate renewable energy. Courtyards facilitate air recycling and natural light penetration. Training center classes are oriented towards the north to maximize indirect light exposure.
