Project idea

My visionary project aims to design and establish a high school in the vibrant neighborhood of Yaacoub el Mansour in Rabat, Morocco. Spanning across a generous 4.5-hectare site, the school will be strategically located, facing a market surrounded by informal settlements and adjacent to residential buildings. The essence of this project goes beyond creating a conventional educational institution, it seeks to redefine the architectural landscape of its surroundings, bringing aesthetic upliftment to an area that deserves attention.

Context and Purpose:
The chosen location, set against the backdrop of informal settlements and residential structures, holds unique challenges and opportunities.My goal is to not only provide a modern educational facility but to act as a catalyst for positive change in the community. By introducing a high school with thoughtfully designed architecture,I aim to uplift the aesthetic standards of the neighborhood, creating a beacon of inspiration for the students and residents alike.

Architectural Vision:
The architectural vision for this high school goes beyond functional design. It embraces a harmonious integration with the existing urban fabric, acknowledging the cultural and social nuances of Yaacoub el Mansour. The design will incorporate elements that resonate with the local identity while introducing contemporary features that promote a conducive learning environment.

Conclusion:
This high school project in Yaacoub el Mansour is more than a construction endeavor,It's a commitment to the holistic development of the community. By blending architectural innovation with cultural sensitivity, my aim is to create a space that not only educates but also inspires positive transformation. Through this project,I envision a brighter, more vibrant future for both education and the community it serves.

Project description

My project centers around the creation of a comprehensive high school, offering a general curriculum with a specialized emphasis on Information Technology (IT) studies. This innovative educational institution is designed to cater to diverse learning needs, fostering academic excellence and technological proficiency. Here are the key features of the proposed high school:

Classrooms:
- 10 general classrooms for standard academic subjects.
- 5 dedicated IT classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

Science Laboratories:
- 4 fully-equipped laboratories for physics and life sciences (SVT).
- 2 preparation rooms for laboratory activities.

Learning and Recreation Spaces:
- A well-stocked library to encourage reading and research.
- A multipurpose hall for various school events and gatherings.
- A designated study hall for focused academic work.

Administrative Block:
- Administrative offices for efficient school management.

Cafeteria and Kitchen:
- A cafeteria providing a comfortable space for students to dine.
- A modern kitchen for preparing nutritious meals.

Sports Facilities:
- An athletics track for track and field events.
- A football field for team sports.
- 2 handball courts for recreational and competitive play.
- 3 basketball courts to encourage sports participation.
- 3 volleyball courts for physical activity and team building.

This comprehensive approach ensures that students not only receive quality education in traditional subjects but also have access to cutting-edge IT courses. The inclusion of well-equipped science labs, a library, and a variety of sports facilities further enriches the learning experience. The architectural design aims to create a dynamic and conducive environment that inspires academic achievement, technological innovation, and a healthy lifestyle. The proposed high school is not just an educational institution; it is a holistic space for learning, growth, and community engagement.

Technical information

My visionary project has been meticulously crafted to encompass not only cutting-edge educational facilities but also a strategic design that prioritizes the well-being and holistic development of the students. The design process was methodically undertaken, with a focus on creating a harmonious and purposeful layout.

Strategic Design Process:
The inception of the project began with a unique approach – placing the sports facilities at the forefront of my design considerations. Recognizing the paramount importance of physical activity and sports in fostering a well-rounded education, we strategically oriented the sports grounds to face north-east, adhering to optimal design standards. This positioning ensures ample sunlight exposure and comfortable playing conditions, aligning with best practices for sports facility planning.

Architectural Layout:
The architectural layout seamlessly integrates the sports facilities, forming the cornerstone of my design. A well-thought-out L-shaped building was conceptualized to house the classrooms, laboratories, administrative block, cafeteria, and other essential spaces. This configuration serves a dual purpose, creating an open courtyard within the building's embrace. The open courtyard not only provides a visually appealing and welcoming space but also enhances ventilation and natural light penetration, contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly environment.

Features of the L-Shaped Building:
- Optimized Classroom Layout: The L-shaped structure optimizes the placement of classrooms, ensuring a conducive environment for learning.
- Functional Administrative Block: The administrative block is strategically positioned for efficient oversight and management of the school's operations.
- Cafeteria Integration: The cafeteria is seamlessly integrated into the architectural design, offering a comfortable and inviting space for students to dine.
- Open Courtyard: The open courtyard within the L-shaped building serves as a central gathering point, fostering community interaction and relaxation.

This intentional and thoughtful design approach ensures that every aspect of the high school contributes to the overall well-being and educational experience of the students. By strategically placing the sports facilities at the forefront and incorporating an open courtyard within the architectural layout, my project aims to create a dynamic, engaging, and sustainable educational environment.

Materials :
My project stands out through the meticulous use of carefully selected materials, contributing to both contemporary aesthetics and the sustainability of the structure. The façades, crucial elements of my architectural design, seamlessly incorporate reinforced concrete, marble, and wooden sunshades, resulting in a visually captivating symbiosis.

- Reinforced Concrete:
Reinforced concrete, robust and versatile, forms the foundation of my structure. Its intentional use adds strength to the overall design while allowing for creative freedom. Concrete façades contribute to an impression of solidity, emphasizing the structural integrity of the building.

- Marble:
The incorporation of marble introduces an element of elegance and sophistication. Chosen for its aesthetic qualities and durability, marble adorns surfaces with a timeless aesthetic. Its strategic use creates a visual contrast, adding a luxurious dimension to the overall design.

- Wooden Sunshades:
Wooden sunshades are integrated for both functionality and aesthetics. Besides providing effective sun protection, they bring a natural warmth to the overall aesthetic. The texture and color of wood offer a subtle visual contrast, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance.

- Innovative Aesthetics:
The thoughtful combination of these materials creates an innovative aesthetic that transcends conventions. Contrasts between the solidity of concrete, the delicacy of marble, and the warmth of wood form a captivating visual palette. This intentional blend aims to evoke a sense of modernity, sustainability, and well-being, elevating the overall aesthetic identity of the high school.
