Design Of Teletalk Headquarters

Project idea

The project idea mainly came from the site context. The site given was in Tejgaon industrial area, Dhaka, Bangladesh. After site analysis, it was found that there was very few green spaces for the public to enjoy. So my main idea was to leave as much green space possible for the people to enjoy. Also, I wanted the people working in the headquarter to enjoy the green as well. That's why I decided to create breakout zones in the structure which work as breathing grounds. Hybrid cooling was prioritized during the design process.

Project description

The main objective of the project was to design the headquarter of a telecommunication company, Teletalk based in Bangladesh. Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd. is the only government-run mobile phone operator in Bangladesh, with the brand name “Teletalk”. Starting its journey in 2004, Teletalk now has a subscriber base of 4.5 million. Till now, Teletalk does not have a proper headquarters, but its offices and/or departments are scattered mostly around different parts of Gulshan, Dhaka. In order to boost Teletalk’s business, management, and service, as well as to declare its strong presence both in the national and international arenas, Teletalk has decided to build its own headquarters. It is very necessary for an entity as such to have its own office on its own premises for the best of the business.

Technical information

The building is made out of concrete beam and columns. The circular columns were mainly used to create a more fluid and soothing view. The hanging floors are designed to be supported by cross bracing to create a stiff form whose load will then be transferred by the concrete columns.
Curtain glass is used in the structure. And the glass which was used is Argon Glass which reduces the heat gain of the structure.
