Project idea

"Pyil", which translates from Russian as dust, is a complex, village and observatory built specifically for those who love space. Cosmic dust is the basis of life on earth.
The buildings here grow out of the ground, intertwine into a single alien organism born in the steppe.

Project description

The buildings form two main volumes: a cube and a staircase that stretches for several tens of meters. The slide-ladder is both part of the building and part of the landscape.
For each growing moon, the inhabitants of the «Dust» grow carrots, and for the waning one - cabbage. At a time when residents are not busy with their main work, they are engaged in gardening and gardening. According to special calendars and cycles, work is built on the roof of each of the houses. Each cell has a private vegetable garden on the roof. The slide, stretched for 27 meters on one side and the other, is a real meadow. One side of it is smooth, flat. The second side is divided into several stages-levels. You can move through the meadow both forward and backward, and left and right. You can get to the roof from the house by a staircase leading to a glass booth on the roof. Thanks to this, people can find themselves in their own meadow bypassing the street. The area of the booth is very small, so it will not be possible to stay in it for a long time, just as there cannot be more than one person in the booth at the same time. Glass booths are placed all over the roof - they create a real meadow atmosphere: it’s nice to walk among these small houses and imagine that you are in a small village, having forgotten yourself from the hustle and bustle of the city. The order of the arrangement of the houses is chaotic, everything is like in a real village.

Technical information

House has a roof with intensive landscaping. Intensive landscaping of the roof is the creation of a full–fledged green zone with lawns, flower beds, shrubs and trees on its surface. It is called intensive, among other things, because it needs regular care: weeding, watering, pruning, and so on. Another reason for this name is the active exploitation of people.
Exit to the roof through the booths of their corrugated glass
Glass houses that appeared on the roof of houses resembling a meadow have several functions at once. Firstly, they support the created landscape, fitting into the created environment. Secondly, glass houses serve as exits to the roof, allowing residents to find themselves in a personal «meadow» bypassing the street. Thirdly, the booths made of corrugated glass perfectly transmit light, serving as an additional source of natural light inside the houses.
