The theme of the studio is the design of a simple object - a holiday cottage by a water reservoir in Slapy behind Prague. The cottage should accommodate a smaller group of travelers with its own sanitary facilities and a common meeting room. The proposal must provide water recreation and cooperate with the adjacent campsite and pub a few tens of meters away.
The mass is located on an educational trail and a rocky valley of the Vltava river. Because of the stretch of former fast flowing water called St. John's Rapids that led trought that area, rowers and their settlements were endangered.
An idea was a high-rise building which by its nature symbolizes a lighthouse and frees the space of the first floor in case of flooding happening. The mass avoids the land and its nature, thus not disturbing it in any way.
The connection is created with a self-supporting steel footbridge and its entire length functions as a lookout point. The massive load-bearing lattice structure is also made of steel into which copilite boxes for housing are inserted. The footbridge also separates 3 rest cells and a common room with a pier over the water. Through a staircase a vertical communication is made running along one facade which also serves as a resistance element from the wind and the noise from the Cholin bridge.
The cabin offers a housing for a small group of people and water recreation on the Vltava river.
Self-supporting footbridge is made of steel. Inserted cells for living are created with a wood structure while the facade is made with the semi-transparent copilite material.
