Project idea
There was an aim to create a unique architectural project which would be located in a cramped housing development with an elaborate interior space to display the burnt Jimi Hendrix guitar and other cultural uses. The architectural design of the museum features a unique "jagged" form that stands out among the surrounding buildings, as if "breaking free" from them. The museum building seamlessly integrates into the residential area and symbolises the biography of Jimi Hendrix. Its architectural composition is inspired by the history and creativity of the legendary guitarist.
Project description
The museum space is organised to accommodate two main streams of visitors: those entering and those exiting. The exhibition halls feature diverse and dynamic forms that evoke different emotional experiences and narrate various periods of Jimi Hendrix's life, highlighting his status as the greatest guitarist in history. The multimedia hall serves not only as part of the exhibition but also transforms into a concert venue for contemporary musicians. The "Room of Anger" and the "Dump of Musical Instruments" are interactive spaces where visitors can relive the experience of smashing a guitar, reenacting iconic moments from Hendrix's life.
Thus, this architectural project for the Jimi Hendrix museum pays meticulous attention to detail, creating a space that reflects his musical legacy and profound influence on the world of music.
Technical information
The interior space of the museum is closely linked to its exterior, sharing a cohesive logic of form. It incorporates projecting structures that create additional space and visually captivating effects. The museum's facade is designed to maintain the logic of the building's fenestration while providing natural illumination to its interior spaces. Exhibition, display, and working areas are thoughtfully filled with natural light, whereas the concert space intentionally relies on artificial lighting to create a particular ambiance.
