The idea of the project is students to feel comfortable and inspired while attending a presentation Hall in this type of environment. With nature highlighting the importance of distinguishing Elements within a building or space. Driving Factors like Nature, Performance and Restoration.

The primary goal of a Centre of ethnomusicology is to promote the study and preservation of traditional music. This may involve conducting research on traditional music and cultural practices, Documenting and archiving traditional music, and promoting the performance and Dissemination of traditional music.

Project description

In this project is preserving its historic and architectural significance. by integrating new design and additional programs with historical building, the main idea of our project is to balance the preservation of the building's historic character with the functional needs of the new use.
Respect the historic character of the building: St. Yared music school is almost the exact copy of the Bulgarian school in this design we tried to respect the historic character of the building and preserve its architectural features, such as form organization, windows, and building materials.
Using compatible materials: The new design use materials that are compatible with the historic building, such as blocks, glass, or wood, to ensure that the new design blends seamlessly with the existing structure.
Create contrast: The new design create contrast with the historic building by using modern materials or design elements, such as glass and steel, to create a visual separation between the old and the new. Emphasize the building's form: The new design especially the facade of the building emphasizes the building's look.
The Previous Building is built by old Bulgarians in 1960’s, for the new adaptive reuse project would like to consider the old Ethiopian architecture and we took inspiration from Bete Medhaniyaem Rockehwun Church Located in Lalibela, Ethiopia mainly on structural columns and iconic facade details.

Technical information

Most of the building structural parts are well performing we noticed some non-structural Damages including door, windows, floor tiles. And the rooms need additional sound treatment on the previous Structures and there are some missing programs on the compound for the students including cafeteria, library and a place to gather Acoustic Cork on the walls and celling’s-Acoustic cork has excellent sound absorbing properties.
