Project idea

One of the essential problems of domestic education and care is the adaptation of orphans and disabled children, the creation of favorable living conditions for them. The problem of adaptation of children with mental peculiarities to life in society is especially relevant. According to statistics, the number of orphans with disabilities is growing every year. The existing system of care for such children does not provide full development and education, which in the future does not allow them to successfully socialize.
In order to introduce disabled children to independent life, it is necessary to create an environment of vital activity that best corresponds to the prevailing ideas about the norm. Accommodation, upbringing, education and vocational training, health improvement and treatment, leisure and cultural pastime should be provided in institutions for such children.
An analysis of the experience of designing similar facilities has shown that institutions have functions that sometimes do not meet the real needs of disabled children. According to the national nomenclature, the objects of care for disabled children with mental disabilities are divided into: children's homes, orphanages, boarding schools, general boarding schools, boarding schools for children with disabilities. There are isolated positive examples of institutions for disabled children - specialized boarding schools and children's villages (SOS) designed for their accommodation, upbringing and education.

Project description

There are several objects on the site: the main building and residential buildings. The plot layout is based on a composition in which the main axes are the south-east and north-west directions. The main building, located at the intersection of these axes, is the dominant of the entire complex, and the objects of the residential area are located on the periphery. The residential area is represented as a group of houses – 4 houses in the north of the plot and 5 in the south. Inside each residential area there are playgrounds for different age categories of residents. In the north-eastern part, next to the main building, there is a sports area, including a stadium and outdoor sports fields. Next to it, a berry garden and a small open aviary for small animals are designed. An artificial reservoir has been created on the site. In winter, the reservoir can be used as a place for winter outdoor activities.
Entrances to the site are carried out from Cypress Street. The driveways provide an opportunity for the movement of fire-fighting equipment and the loading of the dining room. Outdoor parking for 5 places for visitors and employees is provided on the territory.
The main entrance to the site is from Victory Park. The lobby of the main building is a spacious atrium space. The lobby is designed for the reception and distribution of students, an exhibition of paintings by boarding school students, an information desk and a wardrobe.
From the lobby you can get to the educational and labor block. The 1st floor is reserved for primary school classrooms.
Next to the study block there is a dining room with a spacious dining room and kitchen facilities. Under the kitchen there is an underground floor with technical rooms.
Also from the lobby you can get to the premises of the medical unit, located on two floors and a sports block with a swimming pool, sports, gyms and a yoga hall.
On the 2nd and 3rd floor there are classrooms and workshops for middle and senior classes. There is an administrative building next to the training block. There is a library on the 3rd floor. The cultural and mass block of premises on the 4th floor is represented by an auditorium.
The residential area consists of a group of houses located in the northeast and southwest of the plot. Each of the standard houses is designed to accommodate up to 24 children with caregivers in residential and common areas: a bedroom for completely immobilized bedridden children, a bedroom for free-moving and hard-moving children of the younger group and two rooms for free-moving and hard-moving children of the middle and older groups. Each bedroom is designed for 6 people, common rooms – bathrooms, classes, kitchen-dining room. Such an organization of the living area helps children grow up in an environment as close to family as possible.

Technical information

The structural system of the main building is combined – with a reinforced concrete frame and wall elements. The spans of the auditorium and sports halls and the swimming pool are provided with large-span structures.
Since Pyatigorsk is located in a zone of seismic activity, the main building is divided into blocks by deformation seams.
