The Bassari Tower

Project idea

The Bassari area extends over 242 km² to the south of the Selemata.
home to around twenty villages. The area is only accessible by paths and tracks that are
difficult to access.
Bassari country is essentially made up of the flora and fauna of the wooded Sudanese savannah. The abundance of wildlife was the reason for the establishment of the Niokolo National Park in the north-west of the country.
This territory is cultivated over 1/10th of its surface area, while preserving large areas of forest. It bears witness to a particular use of the land, in particular the practice of crop rotation, manuring and sowing.

Bassari Tower. Bassari Hotel Complex
Located on the plateaux of eastern Senegal in the heart of Bassari country. The Bassari Hotel Complex is a 30,000 m² hotel and tourist complex in a peaceful environment. An ideal setting for business and tourism stays. Combining the modern and the local, the Bassari Tower offers a refined and relaxing atmosphere that provides a welcome escape from everyday life. Its Architecture is essentially inspired by the Bassari Case as well as their way of life.
A 5-star hotel with several luxury rooms, suites, restaurants, conference rooms, a spa, a discotheque, a highly secure car park, a video surveillance security service...

Technical information

The transparent use of materials in its potential forms gives this building its fascinating appearance. By reinterpreting a local construction technique and responding to the structure's footprint on the site, the attempt is to create a building made from materials that inspires admiration and a sense of wonder through its rich spatial quality.
