Project idea

Project on the topic: Urban planning organization of the territory within the boundaries of the streets of
the Heroes of Defense of the Brest Fortress, Fomin, Gogol, Zubachev by the development of a multifunctional complex.
Detailed study of the exhibition pavilion.
Location: Brest, Belarus.
Project area: 133 000 m2

It was necessary to create a project that would connect the historical part of the city with the defensive memorial part, namely the Brest Fortress and become a bridge connecting the parks that permeate the urban environment. The Brest Fortress is a memorial of the Second World War that requires a competent approach. The project is located on the territory of the former esplonade and therefore there is no historical context, therefore the creation of a visual feeling of the city in general stylistic terms was chosen. The era of inspiration was late modernism, which is now spoken of in a negative way, but I do not agree with this, because it is also part of the historical process and should be preserved.
The appearance of the complex is closely connected with defensive structures, including forts and ramparts. Therefore, part of the complex is hidden in embankments, and bare betom and stone have become the main materials for creating a sense of defensive structures. Which in turn provides a smooth flow of images.
However, the idea was to move away from the memorial function of the Brest Fortress, and let people feel it from the other side - a park complex with an interesting landscape. And give people a new impetus for exploration and recreation.

Project description

The project consists of a hotel complex that welcomes us, a shopping center with an amphitheater (shopping premises are hidden in embankments and the entrance to them is from an amphitheater or an exhibition pavilion), an exhibition pavilion. All of them have underground parking and their maintenance is also carried out by an alternate road that is hidden behind embankments. It was decided to make the road for several reasons:
1. Railway tracks that cross the territory do not provide comfortable movement of pedestrians and cyclists, it cannot be dismantled because it is of strategic importance for the city. Because of this, it cuts off part of the projected territory, but nothing can be built on it, so new landings were made there.
2. Creation of a single space for pedestrians. Traffic on Gogol Street was deliberately slowed down in order to encourage traffic to move along the understudy road, which takes us to a convenient interchange. The projected part of the territory is connected with the central park of the city, and for comfort and unhindered movement, traffic along Fomina Street was reduced.
3. Close the noise of cars from visitors by means of embankments. Of course, if they climb onto an exploited roof, then the noise will be extinguished by a new landing and will not be such a problem.

The hotel complex has 145 rooms and 70 underground parking spaces plus two bus spaces in front of the main entrance.
The shopping center has 108 underground parking spaces.
The exhibition pavilion has 44 underground parking spaces.
The amphitheater has a folding stage that can be removed and an ice rink is flooded in winter.
Exhibitions can be held on the roof of the exhibition pavilion, and the pavilion also has an internal outdoor patio for recreation.
on the roof of the hotel complex there is a restaurant with a summer terrace (can be seen on the renders on the 4th floor)
