Project idea

The town of Korhogo in Côte d'Ivoire is renowned for its musical potential for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is the birthplace of the Sénoufo community, which is known for its rich musical tradition. The Sénoufo are renowned for their masked dances and traditional music, which play a central role in their culture and celebrations. Moreover, Korhogo is located in a region where different cultural influences intersect, notably those of the Sénoufo, Malinké and Dioula peoples. This cultural diversity fosters a unique blend of musical styles and rhythms, creating fertile ground for the emergence of new artistic expressions. Korhogo has also been an important center of learning for traditional musicians, where masters passed on their know-how and musical heritage to subsequent generations. This has helped to preserve and promote local musical traditions. Building such a center would enable us to pass on musical knowledge and skills to future generations, while promoting the community's economic and cultural development. It could also serve as a meeting point for local musicians, fostering artistic exchange and collaboration, and attracting traditional music lovers from all over the world.

Project description

The center features offices and conference rooms, a recording studio, ancillary facilities, classrooms and a relaxation lounge. It is an iconic venue designed with facades inspired by variations in music, creating a unique and captivating architectural experience.
The building's exterior facades would be a harmonious blend of organic forms and dynamic lines. the learning center for traditional musicians is an emblematic building that harmoniously combines architecture and music. The building's facades are a true tribute to the variations of music, offering a captivating visual experience.

The flowing lines and elegant curves of the facades evoke the rhythm and melody of music. Architectural forms intertwine organically, creating a dynamic visual composition reminiscent of the variations and nuances of ever-changing music. The facades seem to dance to the rhythm of the music, creating a visual connection between architecture and musical art.

Technical information

The building harmoniously integrates concrete and bamboo, creating a sustainable and aesthetically captivating regeneration effect. Concrete is used as the main material to ensure structural strength, while bamboo is innovatively integrated to reinforce the structure and provide a natural aesthetic.

In the structural design, bamboo is used as a reinforcing element, replacing or complementing traditional steel bars. It will be compacted, then assembled to form beams, columns and reinforcement. This combination of concrete and bamboo offers increased strength and reduces environmental impact by using a renewable material.

Bamboo is also used for interior and exterior building cladding. Bamboo stalks will be transformed into panels to be used as cladding for walls, ceilings or floors. This will create a warm, natural aesthetic, adding an organic touch to the architecture. Using bamboo for cladding will promote the circular economy by using a renewable material and reducing the overall carbon footprint of construction.

This combination of concrete and bamboo has many advantages. First and foremost, it guarantees the building's durability, as bamboo is naturally long-lasting, resistant to insects and rot. Combining the strength of bamboo with concrete results in a solid, durable structure that requires less long-term maintenance.

What's more, the use of bamboo promotes the regeneration of natural resources, as it is able to grow rapidly without causing environmental degradation. This helps to preserve forests and reduce dependence on non-renewable materials. These materials will enable the building to self-regenerate, absorbing carbon through bamboo and gradually expelling carbon through concrete.

Finally, the combination of concrete and bamboo creates a visually appealing aesthetic unique to our center. The combination of modern concrete with the warmth and natural texture of bamboo creates a harmonious marriage between contemporary and organic materials, offering a rewarding aesthetic experience.
