Project idea

We are moving into an aging society, and the number of elderly people in cities is increasing, which means that the change of population in a city is happening at an accelerated rate. However, while land around cities can no longer provide suitable burial grounds for the large number of people who have died, we need to learn to cope with the death of important people in an aging society.

Project description

We think cremation is a more reasonable way, less polluting and more flexible depending on the situation on the site. Therefore, we set up a crematorium in the bustling downtown of San Francisco, which is incongruity in the bustling downtown, in order to create contradictions and contradictions and remind people of the occurrence and significance of death. We determined different spatial light and shadow feelings through different openings in this building. This rich change reminds people of the spirit of different life stages and different architectural Spaces; Meanwhile, as the city's population dies, its inner relic towers will rise and eventually become part of the city's skyline, allowing death to coexist with the city.

Technical information

The site area is 3612 square meters, and the building area is 1765 square meters, mainly composed of fair-faced concrete and wood
