Project idea

Indonesia is called a maritime country that can sell its natural beauty & wealth. Sungai Kakap Estuary is one of the maritime regions of Indonesia. In the 2021 data, the number of fishing production in the Sungai Kakap District is the largest. Recorded 6144.50 tons of fish production. The Kakap River region is also part of the strategic tourist area in Kubu Raya Regency, Indonesia. So that the clash between issues regarding the production of abundant marine products and the strategic area of the region becomes the main potential in the design. The Sungai Kakap can still be explored for its benefits by the community as a further Kubu Raya tourist area.
The response in the architectural perspective is to accommodate tourism-culinary activities from the sea resources of the Sungai Kakap and other location context considerations to support the design through cooperation with the community in the Sungai Kakap. So that the design is planned in the form of Seafood Culinary Center in Sungai Kakap Estuary, Kubu Raya regency, Indonesia.

Project description

The result of this design is a culinary area based on cooperation with the surrounding community. This is realized by providing workshop space as well as being a citizen's kitchen so that the people of Sungai Kakap can use it freely and wisely. In addition, the new restaurant function is also realized by supplying fish from fishermen in the Sungai Kakap. The design also considers the existing restaurant, Pantai Indah Kakap restaurant as part of the seafood Culinary Center area. This is one of the design concept ideas where the new mass does not stand alone but remains in harmony with the existing restaurant. The new restaurant service system and the existing restaurant are differentiated so that there is no competition between restaurants. In addition, there is a plaza or event space to accommodate culinary events, especially seafood as well as space for visitors to relax and enjoy the Sea estuary of the Sungai Kakap.

Technical information

Departing from the idea of formation from the metaphorical analogy of the design location area in the form of the existence of choreography 'Kubu Raya Menanjak' as a form of potential & excellence of the Kubu Raya area in the culinary tourism sector. Then take references related to how the building responds to the climate of the site which is on the edge of the estuary waters, the utilization of materials back from the cleaning of the site, and the geometry of the roof head owned through typical Indonesian roof references. 'Fisherman's House Analogy' is the right reference in adjusting the mass of the building on the water's edge by embedding the value of the fisherman's house in the building design.
The use of furniture such as portable kitchen set, movable-wall, and Pavilion/Kiosk assembly used for the community to sell various seafood culinary.
