Project idea

the idea of the project was to create spaces for cultural enrichment in the marina building as a kind of relaxation in a holiday destination and at the same time to create an opportunity to socialize and thus expand the potential of the location.

Project description

The proposed object is placed on water and floats, which created the concept of an object that is structurally prepared for the gradual rise of the sea level. In terms of material, the shape of the object is inspired by the bay, where the layout is also influenced by organic shaping. The proposed building is organic not only in the floor plan, but also in the view, where the ceiling structure first rises slightly and then drops dramatically, thus connecting the object placed on the water to the promenade in the terrain describing the bay with the sea level, where the height difference is almost 8 meters. The proposal covers the function of a kunsthalle, a cafe and a small boat rental. The main idea was to create a space in which visitors to this destination can make a living culturally or sportingly, while also being able to socialize with other residents. The proposal also includes a large floating stage, which creates the conditions for the creation of a cultural program in the bay. In the event that there is no podium there, the possibility of using a large water surface for sports such as water polo is considered in the bay, which also includes the proposed changing rooms outside the main building. However, the changing rooms are also open to the public, because easier access to the sea is being created around the building.
It was important to create a free disposition capable of being flexibly shaped. Glazing is also an important element, where the two points mentioned together partially ensure the transparency of the object, and the building is therefore not a big visual barrier because it is lightweight. The longitudinal axis of the building stretches from NE to SW. The overall appearance is complemented by wooden slats, which are placed in such a way that they create an overall dynamic appearance of the building.

Technical information

The proposal has a facade made of a light outer shell, more precisely a glazed facade, which is completed by aluminum columns. The glass is insulating triple-glazed glass. The roof is extensive, where small flower beds are created. These will protect the object from overheating. The construction system is a combination of wall and frame system. The wooden slats are anchored in the board, which is reinforced with a steel rod, and in addition to the design, they also have a shading function, but at the same time they pass over the board in which they are anchored and form a railing. The skeleton is made of wooden columns.
