Project idea

The Crimson Villas is a design proposal that aims to deliver a luxurious living experience truthful to a high-end development such as the Miris Garden with a contemporary arrangment of generous spaces conveniently integrated with its Mediterrenean surroundings in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
The first design paradigm followed was the creation of a modular matrix in which all three villa types could fit. This method not only allowed a more free-form approach to the division of spaces, but also permitted a logic approach to construction and feasibility. The modular nature of the design also ensures that the ratio of private and communal spaces inside the villa is in proportion to the number of occupants and that, coupled with the standard façade materials, the whole ensemble can be distinguished elegantly from the hilly landscape.
Contemplating the ever-present challenge of respecting the surroundings and context, but also proposing a contemporary approach to the design, the Crimson Villas are structured in a way that invites the occupant to touch a diverse living experience. Following the tenants of hospitality, but also allowing the occupants to feel at home in the villa, this design introduces open-plan communal spaces that integrate effortlessly with the private terrace while outlining tranquil private quarters which are accessible both by the interior hallway and the continuous external balcony.
Moreover, exploring the multi-directional points de fuite present in the villa the user subconsciously interacts with the sea, the sky, and the hills even inside the building itself, in a way that is totally unique depending on the arrangement of the brise-soleil and the time of day. Such possibility elevates the hospitality experience higher than in your standard apartment stay, guaranteeing that the guests in the villa are able to savor the time spent at Miris Garden in a much more fulfilling and enjoyable manner
The Crimson Villas have a clear architectural principle: the aim to unite the contemporary needs in an luxurious yet simple environment. That’s why the villas’ goal is to uplift the relation between the lodgers, the building and the villas’ surroundings. This is achieved with the exposure of the raw materials that compose the villas, such as the concrete floors and roofs, the metal brise soleil and window frames, and the minimalistic interior decoration.
The villas’ floorplans are constructed purposefully to enhance the individual and colective interactions of its inhabitants, enlarging the spaces of permanence and distributing them throughtout the villas according to solar incidence and need for privacy criteria.

Technical information

Starting with a 6m x 4m rectangular module, all three typologies are constructed by combining the rectangles in different arrangements, with a central module containing the entrance staircaise, the bathrooms and the kitchen, a module for each of the bedrooms and the remaining modules dedicated to the living and social spaces of the villa.
The structural conception of the Crimson Villas is a direct consequence of its modular and rational design, which simplifies the construction and maintenence of the buildings. The distribution of modules also favors cross-ventilation and disencourages the usage of air conditioning. The pillars, beams, slabs and roofs are built using reinforced concrete, a material with a great thermal inertia, increasing the villas’ thermal confort during the entire day.
