Project idea

Scenic views, rich landscape and natural terrain, the site molds the concept for the prefabricated villas. Working with the given requirements such as prefabricated structures, a module was introduced as a tool for efficient planning that allows least wastage of space yet maximizing its usage. The spatial planning was conceptualized on key points such a framed views which capitalize the visual access to the sea as well as the landscape. Focusing on the capitalization of views introduced the idea of ‘through” view that was Built upon the concept of having an unobstructed view of the sea from the entrance to the living and to the outdoor deck. Landscape was to be harmonized with the built rather than a separate entity. As the landscape was an essential part of design due to which the structures were on piles (requirement) the design was generated through a journey of 3 landscape zones (serene, explorative and interactive) which connected to the ramp that led to the roof garden. This created a fluid circulation from the landscape and continuing it to the masses. In order to better capture the views, the villa was divided into 2 masses placed on different contours and connecting through the internal vertical circulation. Due to this the levels of programs were twitched to the required view, visual cohesion and change in circulatory route. Also it provided ventilation to the space with a central void connecting the two masses. Adding character to the space through the Croatian culture through its materiality, transitional spaces, waterbodies, orchard and landscape. Allowing the villa to become a self-sufficient entity which produces for itself, is connected to nature, provides techniques of ventilation, capitalizes on the views and follows rules of biophilic design to preserve what exists as well as produce more.
The modular, prefabricated villa raised on piles was molded and created through the understanding of the site, the culture and biophilic goals to create a space that has fluid circulation, well connected spaces, plentiful landscape, well lit as well as ventilated interiors with sunset and sunrise catching corners. Connecting Croatian culture to sustainable practices to add warmth and character to these villas.
