Project idea

An ode to the extraordinary life and work of Eudora Alice Welty and to the city of JXN. A proposal of new construction of a mass timber library to replace the existing aged building.

Project description

A proposal for a new and improved Eudora Welty Library, this project explores the use of mass timber as a design tool and way of making our buildings that will lead to a sustainable future for the city of Jackson, MS.

Technical information

This building uses a timber tectonic of larger-than-average CLT panels in tandem with post-tension cables to open up the floor plan, provide structure for a rooftop garden, and present the wonder of timber to those outside the building.
