Project idea

When I thought of Hawraman, a question ran into my mind, why did Hawrami people choose the mountain to live on? If you want to live everyday life, you won't select the mountain sites to live. Did they think about that too? What does it take to have a home in a challenging location? Or Mountains? The project is located in Hawraman Takht in the Hawraman region, a mountainous geographic territory with an area of 1840 square kilometers a part of which is located in Iran, in Kurdistan and Kermanshah provinces, and another piece in the east of the Kurdistan region in Iraq. The program aims to help fill the gaps in the tourism sector in Hawraman Takht.

Project description

Examining the concerns and priorities of villagers related to tourism and investigating the concept of sustainable rural tourism from the perspectives of residents and their willingness to participate. And also to design a rural tourism/ cultural project as a development tool. A culture center has been provided in the middle south of the project as the first step towards community wellbeing as a part of sustainable development guidelines concerning the local lifestyle, community involvement (respecting knowledge of place), and Business opportunities. The center aims to solve such problems; the quality of local handicrafts has been decreased due to the high demand for such products, to enhance the younger generation in the village that has changed their lifestyles. And also providing family-based workshops for families to afford women other opportunities in the center; this could enhance their status in society and lead to a degree of emancipation.
Motels have been provided on both sides as a stepped arrangement since more than 500 tourists come daily to Hawraman Takht, but few of them stay. Units are designed based on the local architectural pattern language, blend with the existing environment, retain the vernacular character of the built environment (which enhances social interaction), and have been constructed using locally available material.
Landscape wellbeing has also been applied in the design process through landscape protection, landscape development (encouraging walkability), and landscape incorporation (to appreciate natural landscape through activities. Because of varying topography, natural terraces have been created. And to provide a sensory experience of the landscape, pathways, Recreational areas have been added to the landscape, and other programs to meet visitors' fulfillment.
Environmental management as one of the guidelines has been considered in the project with sustainable building (benefiting from sun and wind.) and policies to ensure the purity of the environment.
The project tries to show the visitors that it's worth building under challenging sites when natural lifestyle aesthetics is the core of your decision.
