Laleh cultural center

Project idea

The project that is presented was the outcome of the architectural design course . Being located near the Laleh park provided us the name. Then need of the cultural center in that area was quite clear. The concept of this center conjure up in mind when we were talking about slope of the site. As with the ancient Iraninan gardening. To talk about that gardening style we can name most important 3 elements : water - architectural discipline - 2 axis. Because of shortage of water in our country, my master considered that it would be better to ignore it and focus on the others.

Project description

Squaral form of the buildings deliver one of those elements. Symmetry might be a question for you, because it was that mentioned discipline in ancient iranian gardening. To merge symmerty with modern word, we had to change it. Maybe by looking at axis you notice a symmetry but it is just a glimpse, if you look at the plan carefully you would notice that we have some changes but there is no mistake in that discipline that we wanted. About the slope I should say that when we decided to ignore water flow, I came up with the mind that we can use reverse slope. To make it flat and have different levels. When you enter the site you can easily feel the nature by the vegetation and the site. The view of the lower yard gives us more friendly ambience. Talking about yard, I should mention that having a roof above the seats can ease the moments that you are sitting because there is no shadow at noon without it. First buildings that you notice are totally diffrent. On the left is the official part of the center with all it’s formats and space. On the right you can see the galleries. 3 galleries with 3 different subject and presenter during the year but also they can be combined. On that level we have the cafe galley that you can see the art and have your coffee at the same time. On the lower level we have restaurant, indoor and outdoor, you use it anytime. and the great buildings are the amphi theatre and the library. Library is divided to 2 levels for it’s capsules and providing the reading ambience.

vegetation and gardening are the most important parts. about the material we can say concrete and wood.
