Project idea

It is becoming clearer by the day that education goes beyond the standardized systems available. People are learning art skills, numerous tech skills, soft skills and things that do not yet have a place in institutional systems especially in Ilorin and Nigeria as a whole.
The Institute of Advanced Learning provides central, beautiful, well organized spaces for this important part of the communities learning need, instead of the small, shabby, inadequate spaces scattered in their numbers all over the community.

Project description

This Graduate Project consist of four floors. The Ground Floor houses the communal spaces like the Cafeteria, Bookshop, Cafe, Building Security. The First Floor; a500 capacity lecture hall for talks and large seminars or classes, Mini Laboratories, Test Halls. Other Floor house Classrooms, Seminar Rooms, Libraries and Administrative Offices.
The Site is Planned for adequate parking, pleasurable landscape and areas to provide services to the building.

Technical information

The building was designed to be strategically located modern landmark, a pointer to a future where education is a happy place for minds, beyond the the usual four walls of school.
It thus makes use of modern construction elements such as an
1.Outer shell made of perforated metal sheets, which also help enhance ventilation and thermal comfort.
2.ETFE which helps bring the outside into the building in a sense
3.Well Insulated Roofing Material and Wall materials that suit the thermal conditions of comfort in the geographical region of the proposed site. A research endeavor that led up the design solution.
4. A lot of Open Spaces and light airy colors to for the psychological feeling it produces and such other measures.
