Project idea

A family house with an office for a family of two architects with three children in a creative Barcelona neighborhood, Poblenou.

Project description

The 400 square-meter cascade house constrasts the typical surroundings. Associated with the concept of living within nature, the spacious interior is comprised of 2 'folding'concrete stripes, which consist of 10 individual floor plates, all situated at various heights, that give inhabitants an opportunity to live in nature within the dense urbanity.
The intriguimg point of the house is that these spaces are not hermetically isolated but are connected to one another in its unique relativity. Having a concept of 'seeing but not being seen' between the house and office spaces.
Ranging in size from 18 to 72 square-meter, each floor plate is linked by a variety of stairs, including short runs of fixed concrete steps and transparent stell mesh steps.
