The main idea of this project is to create a place of memory for the tragedy with erecting a memorial zone. The Silos building-is the main object around which the entire composition of the memorial complex is built, consisting of a zone of visual involvement, viewing platforms, walking paths and a green path connecting the memorial with the public and cultural building, which is the central point of the composition.
The public cultural building consists of a museum, a shopping center and a central entrance areas to the memorial area. Futhermore there is a parking which is situated at the back of the building.
The central entrance is made in the form of dark vaults, passing through which the blinding power of the sun opens before the eyes of a person, and after some time the Silos building becomes visible, surrounded by a zone of visual belonging made of old recycled containers and mirror panels. These projected objects create a natural protective green barrier between the coastal area and urban development, which is also serves as an air purification zone in this area.
The public and cultural center is adjoined on both sides by parks created by artificially raising the relief, which creates shadow zones.
In the parks, all the main areas are placed under overhead structures to protect a person from a direct hit by the sunlights. Planted trees and shrubs also serve as protection from the sun.
Park 1- is a reacreation area for teenagers and adults. We created here zones of open cinemas, a zone for public discussions, zones of rest and silence, public restroom areas and cinema box office.
Park 2-children's space.
The relief in the park is created more dynamically, for the development of spatial thinking. The main children's play areas are under protective hinged structures. The park implies the creation of a rope park, various elements connecting different levels of relief. Also here is a Recreation area for parents.
On the west side of the site is a public reacreation area that includes a large number of sports areas, a food mall area (consisting of two open public market buildings and a food court with cafes.) and community rest houses for rent.
Also on the territory there is a passenger terminal, divided into two volumes (for passengers and for the administration), there is a parking.
A system of safe pedestrian roads has been created. The whole territory has two natural zones (desert and “oasis”). There is also a pedestrian promenade with bicycle lanes along the contour of the site.
The project is designed to be architectural sustainable. We decided to use the most environmentally friendly methods to provide the building. For example, solar panels are used to illuminate the parks and public area in the evening and night. It is also envisaged to use the energy of the coastal waves to provide electricity to the buildings located near the promenade. The materials used are eco-friendly and as natural as possible: concrete, wood and iron walls from old containers. Sun-insulated glass in the buildings ensures that the indoor temperature stays pleasant.
barrier-free environment( all buildings and main volumes are at ground level. Lift systems for low mobility are used for descents and ascents.
Economic efficiency is created by the large choice of modern rental spaces.
